Personality: She’s the curious kind, anything and everything that strikes her fancy is sure to fixate her for quite some time. Sofia is interested in people; well, the nice ones anyway. Her love of a good story or fun fact makes her extremely gullible and susceptible to believing almost anything you tell her. The obvious downside to this is paints her as a pushover and overly naïve, sometimes irresponsible. If you were to see her working however you’d see the latter is heavily contradicted. In a crowd or group she will ensure no one’s voice goes unheard or ignored, her duties always come first- be it a menial task or exciting one she performs it without verbal complaint.
However, every rose has it’s thorn as they say. Her desire to ensure everyone’s voice is heard sometimes drown out her own. Many of her decisions are based on what she believes others will perceive as best; the choice that makes her appear the bigger person. It is such a tendency that often makes her feel disappointed, usually with herself. You might dub her overly competitive at times, though she will not immediately one up you in these situations. Her goal has never been to drag down others, but she merely wishes to prop herself up. To feel the sensation of being equal to those around her she has long since hoped to gain.

Appearance: Her figure is rather petite; she is fairly skinny and spindly looking. Her complexion is fair with a few light freckles beneath the eyes. Her face is narrow and her cheeks are relatively defined. She is rather ‘plain’ looking as some might say, though her eyes are a bright hazel that convey a golden tint when in the right lighting. Her eyebrows are of a medium thickness and are slightly darker than her hair.
She dresses in a way that is practical, though evidently shows that she takes pride in her appearance. She can most often be seen with her hair in a single braid draped over one shoulder as she works.

Character Information

Likes: As mentioned previously, she loves a good story or fun fact. Hence why reading brings her great joy and is one of her main pastimes. Many times as a kid she could be found climbing trees and sitting amongst the branches for hours, just enjoying the view and feeling of freedom. This is a hobby that has continued long into adolescence and shows no sign of going away any time soon. Rainy days are her favourite; the soft pitter patter against the ground and smell of wet plants makes her feel relaxed.

Dislikes: Having worked in a noisy pub for roughly four years; she despises the idea of alcohol. Others can drink it all they want, though she vows to merely serve it. Even it is part of her own fault for being so gullible, she hates being lied to. Not because she feels betrayed, but because of the disappointment that follows upon finding out something amazing was never true to begin with. She has also never been a very big fan of extremely hot days; hence why autumn is her favourite season.

Fears: Cramped spaces- the idea of not being able to move as she pleases terrifies her. Oddly, she fears having to dance. Though experiencing such a thing is unlikely as she will probably never see a Wall Sina ballroom, the idea of having numerous people watching her as she must perform complex routines makes her feel at unease. Lastly- rats are just plain disgusting to her. Not to mention those massive teeth that look as though they can bite through anything.

Motivations: Once again, she’s competitive and is driven by expectations- whether true or a product of her own assumptions. She longs to never disappoint, and hopes to be the best she can be. The idea that all are equal motivates her, mostly so that she may envision a time when she is not pressured to be the best.

Character History

Background: Born in early spring in her family home in the Karanese District, Sofia has lived a fairly average life. In a world that is ever under threat from man eating beasts, an average life may not sound too bad to most. However, that was never the case for Sofia. Looks are often deceiving; as she had every intention of joining the fabled scouting legion at age twelve. She longed to see the outside world, to bear wings of literal freedom on her back. However, family has always been more important.
Her other brother, Dirk, left for the military three years before she did. He successfully graduated to later join the garrison to which he presently remains. With the oldest already gone from home and the youngest a ten year old girl, she took the short straw and took on the responsibilities her father no longer could. Her family owned a small, successful pub on the corner of the main road. As her father grew older and frailer, they feared continuing work may be fatal. Because of this, it was up to her and her mother to keep their source of income alive. Her work began at age fourteen, cleaning the classes and sweeping the floors were the activities that filled most of her day.
She spends her days doing most of the menial tasks around the place as her mother opened up a small market stall to help cover costs. With her mother occupied, her only company at work is the newly appointed manager and rowdy drunks that make fools of themselves. At age fifteen, she had saved up enough for three writing lessons. Though, it was soon found her ability to craft stories was not as deft as her ability to enjoy them. From her initial military failure it seemed as though others constantly stemmed. Day by day her fears grew that she’d spend an eternity trapped by the walls of a run down corner pub. Her job isn’t all that bad though; sometimes members of the garrison/travellers come by with interesting stories that help pass the time. Whether they be true or not she can no longer tell, nor does she care.
