Short Story
Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by Titans. Titans are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest Titans. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a Titan in over 100 years. Until that day.....

Nec shoved the man away.
"I don't need your help.", she wasn't minding the wound in her leg at all. Pain is relative and to Nec, Cora and Vex nearly not existent.
"You can send them to him, if you want. I'm gonna go for know. I have some different business on this market here!", she want away, the people were making a way for her.
He knew who she was. She didn't know how but, he definitly knew and that was a problem, a big problem. She found the dagger still in her hand and threw it in the direction of the man, it got stuck in the pole of the stall. She had a better idea for now. She would need to let him know what the black market meant to the people here. But first she had to visit an old friend of hers.

Auth watched the boy take off. It was surprising, to say the least. His gambit failed, too. Oh well.

He started heading for a certain shop that sold very high-quality wine, planning to then leave. After all, the market wasn't worth risking his life for. Yes, he still was extremely curious as to what would the military have business here for, but that wasn't worth his life either.

So he headed off.

Cora went to a stall were a man was only letting certain people in. A boy, bigger than Cora was standing in the front and watched out for troublemakers. Cora made an attempt to get in but the boy stopped her.
"Hey...you're not allowed in here, get away Scum."
Cora smiled under her bandana.
"Well...I think I'm allowed to get in there.", she looked at him. A man came out of the stall and saw Cora.
"Let her in!"
"Wait?! Her?", he was confused while Cora went in with a smile on her face.
"Why did you come here, I thought you were dead! Or at least not able to get away."
"You really seem to remember me...I didn't think you would."
"Of course I would, you were one of the best. Why are you here?"
"I would recomend to get away really quick, the stationary guard is here. One of them is a little asshole who loves to proove himself, so you better get away."
The man looked at her for a second and then nodded.
"Hey boy, roses are getting sharper. And this 'Sir' here goes with us.", he said. The boy went of and told someone else nearby.
The one the boy just talked walked away.
"You're bleeding."
"The one from the garrison. Got shot in the leg."
The first boy came in and nodded, he looked ar Cora still confused about her gender. Then all three of them went to the back of the stall. The boy shoved a box away and Cora started to climb down the ladder while the boy put the crate on top again. As Cora's feet touched the floor the vendor put a plate, resembling the ground in the stall, under the box. Even if they would put the crate away finding the exit would be a challenge.
He nodded and they made their way further through the corridor.

PostSubject: Re: The black market (open, possible violence and gore)   The black market (open, possible violence and gore) - Page 2 EmptyMon May 18, 2015 2:47 am

Auth walked the market slowly, looking for a break in the stream of people. Soon enough, he found it, and quickly took refuge in the shadows of a side... well, not quite alley, but still, a side path. A few quick checks to make sure he's alone, then he began to take his mask off.

The mask was being kept in place by four leather straps, which he promptly removed. Now, he begun to slide the metal plates towards the inside of the beak, effectively reducing the mask to only a fraction of it's volume, enough to make it go unseen inside his coat. The mask was pretty well-crafted and quite viable, it seemed.

After nestling this mask into the coat, he took another mask from the same coat. This one was much simpler, and it only covered the eyes and part of the cheeks. All jet black. To the usual man, it would make him no longer seem Black Crow. True, it would not to much for the ones that seen him clearly already, like the garrison member or his ex-guide, but it was enough to hide his identity. And it wouldn't hinder him at all, either.

After all, he planned to grab a drink.

Severin sat down in the tavern and sighed. Grabbing a bottle of scotch, he poured several glasses and set them down on the table. Several other men came in and joined him at the table, each taking a glass. Once they had settled in, Severin cleared his throat. "So, shall we begin?" He said to the men at the table. "I don't have all day."

Auth entered the... well, tavern was an exaggeration, but in any case, it's got good drinks, so it qualified as a nice place. He walked up a bit towards the main bar, and signaled the bartender he'd have his usual.

While slowly sipping from the his red wine, Auth now noticed the garrison guy was here as well. Talking with quite a few people, even. This was going to be interesting soon, if any of them made any sort of show. And with the very aggressive way of operating the "crazy boy" - since that was Auth's name for the one with the uniform - a show could be almost guaranteed.

Still, it wouldn't do to stand out right now, so he just casually sipped again, then started casually chatting to a pretty girl standing nearby. After all, Auth was used to have conversations he wasn't even actively processing.

As they were walking down the corridor a small boy came out of the shadow.
"I know it!", he whispered and waited for the merchant to make a signal.
The merchant nodded and turned to Cora, "We know where they are, we are going to visit them and find out what they are doing, but first....we need a different 'disguise' for you."
This time it was Cora who nodded then they went on until they reached a door. The inside was filled with mostly boys but some girls, all wearing the same. Everyone had a leather harnish reinforced with metal on the inside and the fitting gauntlets and shin guards. On the back of the harnish was a falcon. Under it they were all wearing some black clothing. As they got into the room everyone was standing up and saluted to the man. He and Cora went to the back of the room and she changed into the same armour everyone wore. The man pointed at some boys, as big as Cora and they all went after the little boy while all of them put some masks on. The face was now unrecognicable.
They got back to the main halls of the black market and the boy pointed at the tavern.
Cora nodded and went after the others into it. She looked around and spotted the one.
"One table for 7!", shouted the man and all of them went to a table near Severin and took a seat.
"Nothing to do today falcons?", joked the bartender and he brought the man beer. The others weren't drinking anything.

Severin silently took note of the arrival of both parties; the 'Falcons' and the masked man, who had donned a new mask. "Gentlemen," Severin began. "How fares your endeavors in Yalkell?"
One of the men put down his glass. "Quite well. That hard steel you gave us really helped out. Now we can move," He looked at another one of the men for a moment." About twice as much supplies." Severin nodded. "Any new info on the Captain?" Severin leaned in as he whispered the question. "Or any of the others?" The largest of the men's book his head. "Nothing new. Sorry." Severin reclined a bit, and sighed.

Their leader laughed, "No not really, those boys here did very well in the last...you know what I mean.".
He looked over to the others' table. You could hear nearly everything they were talking about.
A drunk man in his middle-ages staggered to Cora's table and started talking something noone could understand. One of the boys stood up and looked down on the man, "What. Do. You. Want?"
The man lifted his arm and wanted to punch the boy but Cora was faster and kicked him so hard on his chest he flew right away on Severin's table. The glasses shattered and most of the men got some winestains on their precious clothes. As the man stood up one of the table's legs broke. Cora and Vex were extremly happy about what had happened right now. So much fun!
The man charged at Cora, she stepped aside and bumped the man's head so hard on the table he broke his nose. As he stood up again Cora grabbed his arm and dislocated his shoulder joint. He screamed, Cora smiled under her mask and let him be. She looked into the tavern. Some men were uncomfortable some men wanted to fight now. It wouldn't take long for a big fight, but that was what Cora and her leader were hoping for.

Auth silently whistled to himself when he saw the little bar fight. He seemed to have been right, this place was suddenly beginning to get interesting. Quite a few drunkards were up on their feet, wanting to fight, but also a surprising number of sober men. Well, it couldn't be helped, people here liked to fight quite much.

Auth's elbow slithered on the bar as he turned around to face the action, and not-quite-so-accidentally tipped a dead drunk man's drink on the white clothes of his more sober neighbor.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing!?" the man screamed, and punched the other hard. Auth threw the semi-unconscious drunk off of himself, and that kept the little fight going on. He started to mentally count seconds before the garrison guy will lose his temper and pull out that gun of his. "One..."

Severin looked at the chaos, and facepalmed. "Morons." He looked back at the other men at his table. "It's getting too heated here. Meet up with Epsilon at our other location." The other men quickly stood up and left, avoiding the drunken fight. Severin gestured for Auth to come over and sit with him. "You, come over here. Ther-" Severin slid beneath the table as a drunk guy swung but missed. Popping back up, Severin pressure-pointed him into submission.

Cora's leader nodded to three of the boys, they stood up and left the bar, following the men.
Their leader leaned over to one of the slightly-sober men and whispered something. The man's eyes got bigger and he stood up pointing at Severin: "THAT MAN IS FROM THE STATIONARY GUARD!", he shouted.
It was quiet in the tavern, but then men started whispering, they got nervous or fired up. Noone down here wanted people from the military to do something to their precious black market. Most of the men now were preparing themselves for a fight.
A tall and drunk guy shattered his glass on a table, making it a perfect weapon and came closer to Severin. Some others followed him.
Cora nodded and all the falcons stood up ready to break up the fight. The men knew it but didn't have any intention of stopping.

Auth signaled to the garrison guy with a hand wave that he heard him, but that he'll wait until the business will be sorted out. Quite some men planned to attack him, and those trained fighters looked like they planned to stop the thing, but Auth wondered if that was really the case.

Regardless, he continued his mental counting. "Seven..."

The drunken men approached Severin, broken-bottle was the first to swing. Severin struck first though, with a chop to the neck which sent the man reeling back and down. The second had drawn a pocket knife and made stand at Severin, but due to his drunkenness, he stabbed one of his peers, and they both went down. The remaining drunkards weren't much of a match for Severin, and they were all sprawled on the floor after a minute. Sitting back down, Severin took a sip of water and motioned for Auth again.

Cora crossed her arms and looked at Severin. He was tough and lucky, really lucky. She wanted to open her mouth and stop her leader but didn't do it in the end. The man went to Severin and let himself sink into a chair next to him.
"So...hello!", he said, slightly drunk.
"You're from those...", he waved his hand as to find the right words, "...military guys, right? The one with the roses...", he stopped and looked at the ceiling, "Don't you think those are...like - how should I say it - not so manly, I mean those are roses...flowers, why do you use flowers?", Cora smiled under her mask. The other two boys and she herself placed themselves near the table.

Auth started to get up in order to go to the man, but then the... mercenary?... leader started talking to him. Auth sat back down, chuckling. It was obvious by the garrison guy's expression that he was quite annoyed by the situation. Auth was too, but alas, there wasn't really anything he could to about it.

Except to take his wine again and sip from it while waiting for an opportunity, of course.

Severin chuckled. "Hey, at least we don't have a unicorn as our mascot. Now that I think about it, who wouldn't want to be drunk all the time when your mascot is a freakin' unicorn? I think our symbol has something to do with Wall Rose." He looked the drunk man up and down. "Maybe you should go sit back with your feathery fellows and be drunk over there. I'd like to talk to someone else."

Their leader laughed, "You could be right! Before I go...you know why we have a falcon right? To catch the guys from the military out of the air!", his voice got deeper and more quiet, "You don't know that but if you want to destroy the black market you destroy every one's life here in the Nedlay District. We can only survive because of it. Just that you know that, I know you wouldn't want babies to die because of you, right?", he smiled and then shouted, "ANOTHER BEER, MY FRIEND!", he looked at Severin again, "You can have us with you, he and I know each other well, we don't have any secrets!", he pointed at Auth. "Right my friend?"

Cora smiled, he realized that Auth (Cora doesn't know that it's him I just write it here to prevent questions) was amused by his behaviour.

Auth chuckled a bit more, then responded to the falcon man: "Aye, aye, that's right!", then took the beer the bartender prepared and threw it at him. The man caught it, but that didn't prevent half of it from spilling on him. Still, he didn't look bothered by it.

Auth turned to the bartender. "You still got that one single table on the roof, right?" He waited for him to nod, then placed a gold coin on the table. "I'll be borrowing it for a bit; make sure no one except the military man over there is allowed to come."

With that, Auth stood up and inclined his head subtly towards the man he wanted to talk with. As soon as he saw him see the movement, he started going up the stairs, ending up at the exact single table he just reserved. At least here they wouldn't be bothered while talking... well, not too much, to be honest.

Severin got up and brushed past the drunken man sitting opposite him. "I'll be up." Severin said as he went for the stairs. While Severin stepped up the flight, he unslung Flammende Gerechtigkeit and held it with his right hand. Severin sat down and sighed, setting Flammende Gerechtigkeit down under the table. He pulled out several papers, and placed them on the table. "You appear to possess a high level of skill dealing with other people. Which is something I need. Now, you can either walk away or stay and listen. But be warned; this endeavor could be considered treason if things go sideways. Very sensitive stuff."

Auth raised his eyebrow. Of course, Severin could not see that through the mask, but habits are a strong thing. It was quite an interesting proposition.

"You're quite direct in your approach, it seems." Auth grinned. That, Severin could see. "I might or might not be interested. It depends on the job..." He made a meaningful pause. "... and the reward, of course."

He leaned backwards, thinking about his options. If the job was appetizing and so was the reward, he'd do it. If the job wasn't, but the reward was, he might do it, so long as it didn't mean any superhuman effort. But should either the job be horridly against his own moral standards, or reward much too underneath, he'd simply turn it in as act of treason.

Quite a nice situation, if you asked him. "Oh, and why are you pointing a gun at me? I'm not pointing one at you, you know." Auth wasn't really afraid that he'd get shot; only disliked the lack of manners.

Kaito had been drinking at the bar and smoking a cigarette with a book laid out open infront of him. After some time, he'd notice multiple people enter the bar and break out into fights quickly afterwards. He noticed one of them with a mask tip a mans drink over onto another to add on to the already sprung chaos and only fueled the fire as the two next to the mask guy antagonized one of them.

Kaito also recognized a few faces, most of them being military and such, visiting the bar for a drink or whatever they felt like doing. Kaito was a team leader yes, but wasn't as popular as the infamous Levi or anything like that, but then again, he liked it that way. Kept the public from getting on his case every now and then.

Severin laid out the papers on the table. Among them were portraits, financial records, and other hard-to-get information. "The gun isn't aimed at you, it's aimed at the man at the table opposite us. Precautionary action." He picked up one of the illustrations, which featured a man in military uniform. "Do you know Captain vi Rauco of the Military Police?" Severin inquired. Holding up a second portrait, Severin slid the one of the Captain to Auth. "Or of Dr. Le'Stran?" Severin gestured to the illustration in his hand.

//OOC: Uh. I believe I mentioned the "single table on the roof" earlier. But now I'm just going to roll with it and say there are two or three, something like that.

"Oh, all right" Auth said to the man about pointing his gun at the other table. He still wasn't really sure it was truth, but it didn't deserve much more looking into either.

Then he heard the man ask about his father. Auth thanked mentally the many years he spent mastering facial expressions, as he managed to hide the huge shock. Treason... His father... something was off here. Very, very off.

"Never heard of the Doc, I'm afraid. But to live here in Nedlay and not know vi Rauco? You'd gotta be a lot younger than me." He thought about what were the chances of the man knowing him. And then it hit him, as he recognized the facial traits. Severin Wildner. Garrison...

... Rouge Titan Shifter ...

"So yeah, if it's about vi Rauco, I might be able to help you." He left out a weak chuckle. "I'm not sure how much though. The man's a devil of an MP. What do I have to do, and what's in it for me?" he made a sort pause, and allowed half his troubled thoughts to show on his face. That way, they would seem honest (well, they were), but about the harshness of the job. "... Better be some good things you're gonna give me in the end. I'm not risking my whole lot of skin for a few gold pieces."

//OOC: decided to merge the cultist hunt into this thing in the end. I believe it's no problem...?

//OOC: Oh. I thought Auth had reserved a single table, not the ONLY table. And yeah, no prob with the cultist hunt thing.

Severin took a moment to gather several more papers, and began naming off several more people, each either high-ranking MPs or researchers and doctors. " You won't have to do much; we're just going to kill the bastards." Severin leaned back in his chair. "They're plotting to kill Nile Dok and assume control of the Military Police for a coup d'etat aimed at the royal family. My main information gather, 'Cherry Blossom', has evidence suggesting brainwashing and the development of anti-personnel weaponry. Our goal is to kill them before they can execute this plan." Severin paused for a moment. "Well, my goal. Not sure if it's yours." Letting the information sink in, Severin glanced around at the surrounding rooftops. "We're exposed out here. Very exposed." Looking back at the table, Severin began gathering the papers and putting them back where he got them from. "You in?" He asked.
