He will however display loyalty to those whom he sees being bullied and attempt to defend them against the antagonists. He isn't a leader, and prefers to follow orders than give them, the idea of possibly sending his comrades to their possible deaths has never appealed to him. He however will not shy away from chastising those who disobey or ignore orders without substantive reason, he sees them as a possible danger and risk to the mission’s success. Outside the uniform Leopold is a joker, hitting, usually unsuccessfully, on every woman in sight. His friendly manner means that he will initially try to be friendly and warm towards others before judging them at a later stage on their actions and attitudes towards others. Character History Background: Leopold was brought up in Stohess, the son of a wealthy lawyer and accountant who believed that humanity should stay behind the walls. Leopold grew up, being groomed to become heir to the family business and the vast family fortune. He accepted his family’s ideas on humanities future quite readily and was indoctrinated to see the Scouts as a suicidal unit whose operations were a waste of money. This changed when Leopold reached the age of ten, after having talked with his friend Carlos’ grandfather, a retired Scout, he slowly began to form his own opinion and started to challenge his parent’s ideas that humanity was destined to be stuck behind the walls. He began to see serving in the military as his civic duty, believing that his parents and others had deviated from his new ideas on humanities destiny, liberating themselves from the titan threat. This disturbed his parents who still wanted him to inherit the family business. However Leopold’s arguments with them became more and more violent and vitriolic, and he eventually ran away to pursue his duty as a member of the human race. His family disinherited him, declaring him invalid to receive any incomes from them. Leopold didn't care by this time, he had met Emily and Eduardo, two idealistic youths from Trost, whom he grew attached to. As their friendship blossomed through training, both of them told him they were joining the scouts. That’s when Leopold, having no idea what the Scouts mortality rate was, decided he wanted to join them. However that soon changed once he did find out, and adjusted his stance, justifying it by saying that the garrison corps cannons could supply logistical artillery support to his friends while out on expeditions. Leopold trained with his friends and eventually graduated in the top twenty of his trainee squad. He then followed through with his dream and began a long love affair with the wall cannons. Leopold’s love with cannons stemmed from the egotistical trip he got whenever he fired one and successfully decapitated a titan.
